LLEL convened a roundtable to discuss how supporting working family caregivers can be an effective recruitment and retention tool. Members shared lessons learned from their own programs and experience, including how those initiatives impact productivity and employee wellbeing.
Lona Choi-Allum, AARP senior research advisor, Erwin Tan, AARP thought leadership director (health), and Andrew Aitken, OECD economist, opened the June 2022 meeting by sharing insights about the Great Resignation, the business case for healthy longevity, and trends in job quality related to job strain, respectively. Following these remarks, AARP Senior Vice President of Global Thought Leadership Jean Accius, SHRM Foundation President Wendi Safstrom, and Vice President of Human Resources and Global Chief Diversity Officer at Boston Scientific Camille Chang Gilmore discussed the links between mental wellbeing, job quality and worker retention in a fireside chat.

At the April 20, 2022 Collaborative meeting, Amanda Stucke, senior manager & Americas regional lead, health practice at Economist Impact, presented findings from a report that explores the role of employers in driving links between employee wellbeing and productivity, business success, and overall economic vitality in the US. In the discussion that followed, collaborative members highlighted best practices regarding the connected issues of employee health and worker retention.

On February 16, 2022, LLEL hosted its first meeting of the year to discuss trends and research related to the Great Resignation. We were pleased to hear presentations from Nick Bunker, Head of Research, North America, Indeed Hiring Lab and Yvonne Sonsino, Global Co-Leader, Next Stage, Mercer. Additionally, Collaborative members learned about the ongoing research projects of AARP and the OECD on career transitions and worker retention.
