Susanna Huovinen

Susanna Huovinen is a fourth term Member of Parliament from the Social Democratic Party and one of the most long-standing political figures from Central Finland.  She was born in 1972 in Liminka.  She was first elected as a Member of Parliament in 1999. During her time in the parliament she has worked in several parliamentary committees, such as the Grand Committee, and has had many other parliamentary functions. In 2005–2007, she served as Minister of Transport and Communications.

 

In spring 2013, she was appointed as Minister of Health and Social Services.  Her responsibilities as Minister include care and services for older people, social welfare, public health, and rehabilitation.  She holds a Master’s in Social Sciences.
