Jean-Pierre Gonnot

Jean-Pierre Gonnot is Chief, Social Integration Branch in the Division for Social Policy and Development of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs.  The Social Integration Branch is host to the United Nations Focal Points on Ageing, the Family and Youth. 

Since joining the Department in 1991, Mr. Gonnot has worked with the Population Division, the UN Economic Commission for Europe and the Division for Social Policy and Development.  From 2003 to 2007, Mr.Gonnot led the team that supported the negotiations for the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. 

Prior to joining the United Nations, he worked for several international research projects involving collaboration between Eastern and Western European on social policy and development, with a special emphasis on policy formulation, programmes monitoring and analysis. 

A former research scholar at the International Institute for Applied System Analysis in Laxenburg, Austria, Mr. Gonnot holds masters degrees in economics, demography, history and theology as well as a Ph. D. in history.
